Pool Long-Life Winteriser - Off-Season Algaecide & Stabiliser

Long-life pool winteriser concentrate that prevents algae and stops scale through 4-6 months of pool closure. One dose at close-down keeps water clear and balanced under the cover.

Sizes and prices

Available in 5L, 10L and 25L bottles.

When you need it

How to use

  1. Wait for water below 12 C before final winter dose.
  2. Shock pool to 10 ppm with cal-hypo first; wait 4 hours.
  3. Test pH 7.2-7.6 and TA 80-120 ppm; balance if needed.
  4. Dose 200 ml per 10 m³ of winteriser as one-shot.
  5. Pre-dilute in 10 L bucket of pool water.
  6. Pour evenly around perimeter with circulation on; run filtration 4 hours; drain pipework; fit cover.

Dosing guide

One-shot dose at close-down. Do not redose mid-winter. Combine with pipe antifreeze for full winter protection.

How it works

Concentrated winterising blend of polyquat algaecide, scale inhibitor and pH buffer at typically 30-40% w/w combined actives.

Polyquat fraction prevents algae growth at near-freezing temperatures; phosphonate scale inhibitor binds calcium so it cannot deposit; carbonate buffer holds pH steady through winter drift.

Pools left untreated through winter develop green water, scale and stained plaster. A single winteriser dose at close-down replaces 3 separate winter chemicals and prevents the spring opening problem.

Frequently asked questions

When do I dose?

At close-down once water temperature drops below 12 C and you have shocked to 10 ppm chlorine.

How much per m³?

20 ml per m³ as a one-shot. For a 40 m³ pool that is 800 ml.

Can I use this instead of separate chemicals?

Yes. Replaces winter algaecide, scale inhibitor and pH buffer in one product.

Pack sizes?

1 L, 5 L drums.

Do I still need pipe antifreeze?

Yes. Winteriser protects water; antifreeze protects pipework. Both are needed.

Is this just polyquat?

No. Combined polyquat + scale inhibitor + pH buffer. Dedicated winter algaecide is polyquat alone.

What are the active ingredients?

Polyquat algaecide, phosphonate scale inhibitor, carbonate pH buffer; combined 30-40% w/w.

Why combined?

Single dose, single mix-down, single application; standard practice in commercial pool closure.

Will it stain plaster?

No. Phosphonate is colourless; polyquat is non-staining; buffer is salt.

Spring algae?

Brush, shock, vacuum dead algae to waste; rebalance chemistry.

Scale at opening?

Apply tile cleaner; descale heater per manufacturer.

Winteriser vs winter algaecide?

Winteriser is the all-in-one closure pack; winter algaecide is polyquat or copper alone. Winteriser saves money on combined dose.

Winteriser vs pipe antifreeze?

Different jobs. Winteriser is for water chemistry; antifreeze prevents frozen pipework. Always use both.
