How to use

  1. Fill the tub, run the pump and test the water with the included strips.
  2. Balance total alkalinity first, then pH, following each bottle's label dose.
  3. Add Bromine Granules to establish a 4-6 mg/l sanitiser level before anyone bathes.
  4. Retest after each dose with the pump running and adjust in small steps.
  5. Follow the individual product labels for exact doses - each is printed per 1,000 litres.

Dosing guide

Each bottle in the kit carries its own dose rates per 1,000 litres. The targets below are what you are dosing towards.

How it works

A curated set of ClearSpa bromine water care products packed in a resealable bucket: pH Plus, pH & Alkalinity Reducer, Total Alkalinity Increaser, Bromine Granules, Tile & Liner Cleaner, No Foam, Sparkle, Oxy-Shock, Scale Inhibitor, 6-in-1 Test Strips.

The balancers bring alkalinity and pH into range so the bromine sanitiser works at full strength; the 6-in-1 test strips confirm each level before and after dosing.

Buying the products separately risks mismatched sanitiser systems and missing essentials. A kit guarantees everything works together from the first fill.

Frequently asked questions

Is this everything I need to start my hot tub?

Yes for water care - the kit covers sanitising, balancing and testing, plus the extras in this tier. You may separately want filter spares over time.

Chlorine or bromine - which kit should I buy?

Pick one and stay with it - never mix the two systems. Chlorine is the most common and economical; bromine holds up better at high temperatures and has a softer odour. If your tub already uses one, match it.

How long will the kit last?

For a typical family hot tub, the sanitiser and balancers in a kit cover roughly 2-3 months of normal use. Reorder individual bottles as they run down - you won't need the whole kit again.

What does the Premium tier add?

Premium adds Oxy-Shock, Sparkle, Scale Inhibitor and Tile & Liner Cleaner - a complete weekly-care routine, not just the basics.

Which product do I add first on a fresh fill?

Test first with the 6-in-1 test strips, then balance total alkalinity to 80-120 mg/l, then pH to 7.2-7.6, and only then add Bromine Granules to reach 4-6 mg/l. Doing it in that order stops you chasing readings.

How often should I test the water?

Test before every use and at least two or three times a week. On a fresh fill, test daily for the first week - new water consumes sanitiser faster while it settles.

Can I use this kit in a swim spa or small pool?

Yes - the chemistry is the same. Every bottle's label doses per 1,000 litres, so simply scale up for your water volume and keep the same targets: alkalinity 80-120 mg/l, pH 7.2-7.6, bromine 4-6 mg/l.

Can I switch between chlorine and bromine later?

Yes, but only at a full drain-down: empty the tub, rinse thoroughly (flush the pipework if you can) and refill before starting the new sanitiser. Never add one on top of the other in the same water.

How soon after dosing can we get in the tub?

Run the pump, retest, and get in once the bromine reading is back inside 4-6 mg/l and pH is 7.2-7.6 - typically 15-30 minutes after a routine dose, longer after a shock dose. Always confirm with a strip rather than the clock.

How should I store the kit?

Keep the bucket sealed, cool, dry and out of direct sunlight - a garage shelf is ideal. Keep every product in its original bottle with the lid tight, and out of reach of children and pets.

What do I reorder when a bottle runs out?

Just the product that's run down - reorder the matching ClearSpa bromine sanitiser, balancers or test products from the site, where larger refill sizes work out cheaper per dose. You won't need to buy the whole kit again.

Why buy the kit rather than separate bottles?

One fixed price of £54.95 inc VAT covers everything in the bucket, and you're guaranteed a matched bromine system with nothing missing on day one - no working out which products go together.

Does the kit suit a holiday let?

Yes - the 6-in-1 test strips and matched products make handovers simple, and the fixed contents help with HSG282 record-keeping. For guest tubs tested between every stay, expect to reorder the sanitiser and test strips more often.
